Insulated and GRP Lined Leaking Flat Roof
|
|
Glass fibre was the only real long term solution to a persistently leaking and badly weathered roof. Expansion and contraction has caused major defects in the asphalt lining and thus caused leaks into the computer rooms of this building in Oxfordshire.
GRP Lining Services were employed to design and install a 'warm roof' that would not only deal with expansion and contraction but also incorporate insulation. 2" thick PU (polyurethane) foam was fixed to the existing roof deck after certain modifications to the internal roof space by structural engineers. Expansion joints were incorporated into the foam/glass fibre system to cope with the stresses of such a large roof exposed to the elements.
Walkways to a boiler house on the roof were sealed with an anti slip finish within the grp for the safety of foot traffic personnel involved in routine maintenance within the boiler house.
The fascia and guttering system for the entire building was replaced with the roof system to give an updated makeover to the office units, this work being carried out by a subcontractor to GRP Lining Services.
