Damaged Interceptor Pit - Repaired Using GRP
This interceptor pit within the underground car park of an inner city renovation project in Birmingham was damaged by machinery during construction works. The damaged glass fibre funnel was completely removed and replaced with a PU foam lining against a freshly poured concrete structure. Replacement costs for the interceptor alone wouldn't have been that great but the time spent on breaking the damaged interceptor out of cast concrete to a depth over nearly three metres would have been enormous to the client. An NPG, ISO chemical resistant grp system was used to join the interceptor pit to the funnel at a fraction of total replacement costs.
This repair proved yet again the diversity of glass fibre applications coupled with a good interaction between us and the client.
